DRUMCOG Community Event

DRUMCOG Community Event

Drumchapel Community Ownership Group (DRUMCOG) is made up of Staff and Volunteers from Drumchapel Housing Associations. The role of the organisation is to provide a forum to meet, offer mutual support and raise awareness of different and possibly more effective ways of developing new services.

During 2007 the group organised a Community Event entitled 'Respect Drumchapel' to both inspire and develop new ideas for additional services in Drumchapel. The conference was primarily to raise awareness of the level and impact of anti-social behaviour on the community and to motivate the community to be more proactive in preventing it taking place and to report incidences of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

The event consisted of a large number of local organisations providing stalls with information on their services and detailed community consultation to identify gaps in provision. The event was successful and lead to the development of a new Wider Role Plan for Drumchapel. Since the event, almost £250k of new funding has been secured to develop and implement new services and help to sustain existing provision.
